‘LONG LIVE THE LAND’
Welcome to Naga-American Council's website! We hope to engage your time for you to discover Nagalim's beauty, theNagas’ spiritual heritage and uncover their struggle for independence. Naga American Council is that “One Naga Voice” in America and stands with the Nagas in solidarity for peace with India. Nagalim is one of the most exotic places in the world. Nestled in the northeastern region of India and northern part of Myanmar, Nagalim is a land made up of 66 vibrant tribes, a nature lover's paradise with breathtaking virgin landscapes and home to rare flora and fauna. Sadly, Nagalim is also a land that has faced its more than fair share of challenges. The people of Nagalim have been fighting for their right to self-determination, against a backdrop of India's occupation of the region for more than 75 years. The Nagas struggle daily to overcome several oppressive laws that cause human rights abuses to continue today. Additionally, the Government of India has purposely neglected economic development of the region, leading to a lack of access to basic amenities such as healthcare, education and infrastructure through another egregious law. Naga-American Council maintains that all people should be allowed in 2023 to live a positive, prosperous and joyous life. All Nagas should be respected for their ethnic and cultural diversity, as well as their Christian beliefs without fear of discrimination and abuse. Please journey with us as we will be updating our website regularly as we seek to assist their dream to be free and join the ranks as one of recognized democratic members of the United Nations. We can visualize it now, Nagalim the 194th member of the UN!
